What is 抓周 zhuā zhōu?

"Zhuā" means to pick up, "zhōu" means first anniversary

Zhuā zhōu is a ceremony that parents place an assortment of articles in front of their child, and the child is to pick one from the array of items. What the child has chosen is said to not only reveal their future career inclinations, but also certain personality traits and interests.

According to sources, it is said that zhuā zhōu is one of the most important traditional customs on a child's first birthday anniversary in Chinese culture, for it is a ceremony to predict a child's future and decide how to educate child. The earliest zhuā zhōu can be traced back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279), which means it has lived a history of near 1000 years.

Expect a comprehensive prep guide we have specially designed filled with tips and tricks to enhance your session. We want you to feel confident and ready, so we have a style guide and a handy packing list included to help you prepare for the session. This will guarantee a smoother and more enjoyable experience.
From the moment you confirm your session, our communication lines are open. Feel free to reach out anytime with questions or updates. We're here to make your experience as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.

03. ARRIVAL AT OUR STUDIO

On the day of the photoshoot, we welcome you to our studio and show you around!
While older children explore the play area, we take the opportunity to get to know them better, ensuring a comfortable and friendly atmosphere.
Once everyone is ready, we guide you through the session. Our approach is interactive, filled with laughter, and possibly a few jokes to keep the atmosphere light-hearted. Your comfort is our priority.
We generally start with either family portraits or the item-catching ceremony. We typically leave the cake smash segment till the end!

04. QUICK PREVIEW & GALLERY DELIVERY

After the photoshoot, if time allows, we'll provide you with a quick preview of the photos on our iMac. This gives you a sneak peek of the moments we've captured before you leave the studio.
Your edited masterpieces will be delivered to you within 3 - 5 days, ready to be treasured keepsakes that document this magical journey forever.

They are very professional and great with dealing both kids and adults 😂 The results are great too!! And I wanted to express my gratitude to the photographer! My baby was pretty cranky as he was lacking of sleep on the day of photoshoot and we have actually decided not to take anymore, but the photographer actually insisted of me taking with my baby to capture because these are very precious moments worth taking.
